Down below the passagewayParallel events - Cyprus Choreography PlatformOctober 2020
“Sometimes the world’s textures move across this threshold unchanged. Sometimesthey are transformed by the passage, and sometimes they reshape the doorway itself” David Abram, Becoming Animal.
Down Below the Passageway is a journey beyond the well-trodden paths of Cyprus’spopular Avakas gorge, venturing into its deep, mystical heart.
While many see Avakas as a tourist hotspot, the filmmakers capture its deeper essence, intertwining its natural beauty with otherworldly mysteries. Perceiving the environment as guide, there's a poignant realization of the need to reposition the earth and its places as sacred sites for mourning and reconnecting to the processes of healing.
The creators, inspired by myths and archetypes, unveil a creature that dances between the gorge's transformative energy, a symbolic pilgrimage resonating with the longing to unite the worlds both above and below.
